Technology, handled by someone you actually know.

I’m Colton Meador, here in Marin. I help with your phone, computer, Wi-Fi, printer, all of it, in person at your kitchen table. I started Marin Tech Care in 2026.

I’m local. I’ll show you my ID at the door. Based in San Rafael, serving all of Marin.

In-home computer, phone, Wi-Fi, and printer help in San Rafael and across Marin

What I help with

  • Phones and tablets

iPhone, iPad, or Android, set up the way you use it: bigger text, fewer robocalls, and the same contacts, calendar, and photos on every device you own.

  • Computers

Mac, Windows, or Chromebook. I find what’s slowing it down and run the updates with you there. Then I show you the one or two steps worth remembering. If the old one can be kept going, I keep it going. When it’s time for a new one, I set it up and move everything over before I leave.

  • Wi-Fi and internet

Dead spots and dropped connections fixed. A strong signal in the rooms you use.

  • Printers

Printing and scanning that work the first time.

  • TVs and streaming

The remote, the apps, and the login that stopped working.

  • Email, photos, and backups

Email you can keep up with. Photos you can find. Everything backed up on its own, so a broken computer doesn’t take your pictures with it.

  • Video calls

Seeing your family on FaceTime or Zoom, and hearing them too, on whichever device you own.

  • Scam checkups

Not sure a call or text is real? Show it to me before you answer or click. No judgment. I’ll tell you what gave it away.

I’ll tell you when something isn’t worth fixing.

A named person
Colton Meador. Call, text, or email me directly. One person, every visit.
The promise, in writing
You type your own passwords. I don’t keep them, and I never touch your banking. I only call when you’ve asked me to, or to confirm a visit you’ve already booked with me.
ID at the door
I show my ID before I come in.
Local
San Rafael, and everywhere in Marin. The rate includes the drive anywhere in the towns I serve. West Marin by arrangement.
40 households
The most I take as members, so I can know each setup. No membership needed to book a visit.
Next-business-day answers
Members’ texts get an answer by the next business day, guaranteed.
First visit
If the problem you called about isn’t fixed on your first visit, and there’s no agreed next step, you don’t pay for that visit.

How a visit goes

  1. Step 1.

You call, text, or email. You get me, or you reach my voicemail and I call back by the next business day. I ask what’s wrong, what you own, and what day suits you. Then I tell you the likely cost on that call.

  2. Step 2.

I come at the time you chose and show you my ID at the door.

  3. Step 3.

I sit with you wherever the problem is. You type any passwords yourself.

  4. Step 4.

I tell you the cost before I start. If it runs past about 90 minutes, I stop and set a cap with you before going on.

  5. Step 5.

I fix it with you watching, then write down the steps you’ll want again.

  6. Step 6.

You pay at the end, and I leave a short note of what I did.

For sons and daughters

You’re probably the one who gets the call when the printer quits or an email looks wrong. You could be in Larkspur or three time zones away; it’s still your phone that rings. I can be that call instead. Your mom or dad gets the same person every visit, and your visits home stop turning into troubleshooting sessions. If something breaks while you’re away, I go to the house. How I handle quick questions between visits is under Questions below.

If your parent wants it sent, I can text or email you a short note after any visit: what I did and what to watch for. I run this the way a concierge doctor runs a practice: a small fixed list of households, 40 at most, and one person who knows each one.

  • Call, text, or email me first. I’ll talk with you before I ever contact your parent.
  • Your parent decides at the door. I don’t come in without a yes.
  • After a visit, a short text or email to you, if your parent is comfortable with that. Your parent can change that anytime.
  • You can pay on your parent’s behalf and join the first visit by phone.

Two ways to hire me, and every number is on this page.

Visits

$175/hour

  • In your home. An hour at minimum, and the first visit includes writing down what you own so later calls start with the full picture. Billed by the quarter hour after that.
  • First visit: if it isn’t fixed and there’s no agreed next step, you don’t pay.
  • No surprise bills: I tell you the expected cost before work starts.
  • If a job runs past about 90 minutes, I stop and set a cap with you before going on.
  • Same-day visits, when I have an opening, cost $50 more. Booking ahead costs nothing extra.
  • The rate includes the drive anywhere in the towns I serve. West Marin, bridge tolls, or unusual parking, I quote before booking.

Membership

$199/month

  • or $1,990/year (two months free)
  • Limited to 40 households
  • One visit a month, up to an hour, on a day you pick. Skip a month and the visit carries over; you can save up two.
  • Text me anytime. I answer by the next business day, guaranteed, in the agreement you sign when you join.
  • Quick questions by text or a scheduled callback. Bigger jobs go on your next visit, or a separate paid visit if you want it sooner.
  • Same-day openings go to members first, and members never pay the $50 same-day charge.
  • If a visit runs past the hour, members pay $150 an hour for the extra time, by the quarter hour.
  • Cancel anytime, no contract.
  • Seven days a week by appointment, usually between 8 am and 6 pm. Anyone can call, text, or email to book a visit; I reply by the next business day. Between-visit questions by text are part of membership.

Questions

What if you can’t fix my problem?

On your first visit, if the problem you called about isn’t fixed and there’s no agreed next step, such as a part to buy or a follow-up visit, you don’t pay for that visit. Other things I notice along the way don’t count against that. On later visits, you pay for the time I work. I tell you the expected total before I start, and I ask before going above it. If a part or a specialist is needed, I explain the next step.

Will you ever need my passwords?

No. When a password has to be typed, you or your family type it. I don’t keep passwords, and I never ask for the codes that arrive by text; nobody legitimate does.

Can you help without coming to my house?

Members text me quick questions and I answer or call back. Everyone else calls, texts, or emails to book a visit. Either way, I work with you, in your home. Nothing gets installed that would let me into your devices from somewhere else. If a phone call can’t fix it, I come to you.

Something came up and I’m not sure it’s a scam. Can I ask you?

Yes, before you answer or click anything. Text or email me a photo of the screen. One quick answer is free for anyone; I reply by the next business day. If it’s happening right now, hang up on the caller and call me. That call jumps the line: I pick up, or call back the same day. If money or an account may be at risk, don’t click, pay, or call a number in the message; call your bank on the number printed on your card.

On a visit I also check for remote-access software you didn’t ask for and turn on call screening. Then I show you what a fake bank call or text looks like, so it’s easy to hang up or hit delete.

Do you sell anything?

No. I don’t sell devices, software subscriptions, or add-ons. If you need new equipment, you buy it yourself, from your own retailer with your own card, so the receipt and warranty stay in your name. I can help you choose, but I never touch the payment screen.

Why only 40 households?

Because the whole point is that one person knows your setup. On the first visit I write down what you own, model names and all, so when you call or text later I already know what’s on your desk. A monthly visit for 40 households is what I can keep up with, so that’s the cap. I keep that list to myself and don’t share it with anyone. It never includes passwords, codes, or anything financial. I keep it even if you stop working with me, so if you call years later I still know your setup.

Is there room right now?

As of September 2026, yes. When the 40 spots are full, I keep a short waitlist and say so here. Hourly visits stay available either way.

What if you’re sick or away?

I work alone and don’t send a substitute. I tell members ahead of time, move the month’s visit, and don’t bill for a month I can’t deliver.

I already help my parents with their tech. Why would they need you?

If that’s working, keep doing it, and I mean that. Hire me when the same fix stops sticking over the phone, or when a problem goes unmentioned because your parent doesn’t want to bother you. People are more patient with someone who isn’t family, and that patience runs in both directions.

Can you help my mom or dad in Marin?

Yes. Call, text, or email me first and I’ll talk with you before I contact your parent. You can pay on your parent’s behalf. If it helps, introduce me as a favor: “I found someone local. Meet him once, for me.”
